“We are honored to host the event in its 13th year and help bring together artists and art lovers from all over Taiwan,” said Wu Chieh-hsiang, head of fair organizer Association of the Visual Arts in Taiwan. “It also serves as a way of encouraging homegrown talent to continue producing eye-catching works.”
The annual event, staged at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store until Oct. 31, includes exhibitions, workshops by artists Huang Yao-hsin and Wu Chen-yi, as well as guided tours by curator Sean Hu, art critic Hu Yung-fen, and artists Hsi Shih-pin and Yeh Yi-li.
The main exhibition comprises works from 240 contemporary artists at the department store’s A9 building until Sept. 29. It presents pieces fashioned from a variety of materials and everyday items such as dictionaries, file holders and plastic bags.
Another highlight is an outdoor exhibition of seven large installations by Taiwan artists like Lin Chien-chih, Hsu Yung-hsu and Tsai Kuen-lin. (DF-JSM)
